Riverside Timber-Frame Luxury Home
Situated on the banks of the River Thames, our new-build project in Wargrave presented unique challenges due to its location within a floodplain area. There was restricted access to the site which posed logistical hurdles, making conventional build methods unsuitable. To navigate these constraints, we strategically erected a semi-permanent crane on-site, enabling us to manoeuvre efficiently within the confined workspace during construction.
This project gave us invaluable insights and expertise in managing projects of this calibre. Given the floodplain nature of the area, we implemented a robust solution by erecting a galvanised steel frame atop steel case-driven piles. This elevated platform provided a secure foundation for the main structure of the house, effectively mitigating the risk of flooding.
Employing a pole and beam system, crafted from glue-laminated oak beams, we established a resilient grid frame encapsulated within pre-insulated shiplap panels to form the primary structure. The advantage of this was that we could accelerate construction while having the added aesthetic of exposed beams.
Our innovative approach not only ensured structural integrity but also underscored our commitment to delivering exceptional properties tailored to the specific challenges posed by each project.
